Diu Fort View
Ghoghla Beach
Jhalandar Beach
Hello,
Diu is the
best place for the people who want to get a quick trip of views and enjoyment
of the beaches and authentic heritage of the Portuguese who ruled this
beautiful island.
I would
recommend you to travel by car or private vehicle because you can enjoy the
scenic drives on the seaside.
I would
highly recommend to stay at least 2 or 3 days in Diu because in that span of
time you can easily cover almost everything in the island along with parties
full of enjoyment.
First of
all I would recommend you to enter diu in morning around 8 or 9 because that’s
the quite time and you can enjoy the trip for the rest of the day in a fresh
mood.
When you
enter the diu first thing I would highly recommend is find a place to stay,
because most of the hotels are near to beaches and most of them have their own
bars & restaurants.
Some of the
places I would highly recommend is to stay in the city or hotels near beaches.
List of
some of the most popular places to stay In diu:
·
Hotels
near ghoghla beach – good for sunrise views
·
Hotels
at nagoa beach – good for beaches & bars
·
Hotels
in the main road of diu city – affordable prices
After
having breakfast I would recommend you to go for the heritage I know most
people would go for beaches first but if you cover the heritage first you would
have enough time left for the parties & beautiful scenes.
First place
I would recommend you to go is diu fort. Which is located near diu city in the
east coast, which was built during the colonial rule of Portuguese in around
1535 by subsequent to a defense alliance forged by
Bahadur Shah (The Sultan of Gujarat) & The Portuguese when Humayun (The
Mughal Emperor) waged war to annex this territory. In 1961, it was annexed by
India during the military action called “Operation Vijay”.
I would recommend you to
visit the diu fort view point which is located at the southern side of the fort
which got some amazing views of the fort and the sea.
The second place I would
recommend you to go for is the Pani Kotha (Sea Fort) which is formal prison and
imposing fortress. Pani kotha is located in the middle of the sea between diu
and ghoghla town you can get a ferry from the jetty of diu market to visit the
pani kotha.
For lunch you can easily get
a restaurant near the main road and almost all of them are 10-15 minutes’ walk
around.
After having lunch, we can
go for the Holy Church of St Paul, which is located in the middle of the city
which was constructed in1610 which makes it one of the oldest churches.
I would recommend you to
visit the Diu Museum which is located near to St Paul’s Church and it has
amazing view of the gardens and fountains on the both sides.
After that we would head to
the Jalandhar Beach of diu which is located in southern part of diu city and has
some great places to sit and enjoy the views of the sea and along with that I
would recommend you to visit INS Khukhri Memorial which is located in one of
the highest points you can see the view of the island.
INS Khukhri was and Indian
Navy Type 14 Frigate which sunk near the cost of Diu, by Pakistan’s Navy
Daphné-class submarine Hangor on 9 December 1971 during the Indo-Pakistani War
of 1971. This was the first warship sunk in action by a submarine since World
War II.
The Memorial has some
amazing views of the sea and you can see the whole Chakitirh Beach from the top
point of memorial.
After that just couple of
Kilometres Away located is the temple of Gangeshwar Mahadev by the name you can
guess it is dedicated to lord shiva. It is sea-front temple where 5 Holy Stones
are washed by the tidal waves of the sea. It is one of the must see places for
the devotees of the Lord Shiva. I would recommend you to head to Balam Shah
peer dargah and Church of our Lady of Remedes (Fudam Church) which located in
small area called fudam which is next to temple.
For the dinner I would
recommend you to go for the amazing street fast food which is located near the
Diu local market and next to Hotel Khushi they got some of the delicious fast
food in the diu city.
Day 2-
On the second day I would
recommend you to wake up early and head to one of the best beaches in diu which
is ghoghla beach for the sunrise view. It is really amazing and I’m sure in the
end you won’t regret it. The view will be really astonishing and you will see
the sun on top of the sea and beautiful red sky.
After that I would recommend
you to have breakfast in one of the famous breakfast restaurant which is
located near diu market which is known as saraswati their food has an authentic
taste of gujarati breakfast.
After having breakfast you
should head to nagoa beach which is around 8KM away from diu city and one of
the most popular beaches in diu with amazing landscape scene. Most people come
to nagoa beach to enjoy swimming and water sports plus it got bars and
restaurants just like a cherry on top of the cake. I would recommend you to
enjoy swimming (Unless Authorities says not to do so).
After swimming and making
sand castles at nagoa beach you should go to the sunset point which is near the
palm resort it has amazing cliffs landscape and you can see the tidal waves of
the seas hittng the rocks of the cliffs which would be like a relaxing therapy
& the sun setting down with beautiful reddish clouds and mesmerising chilly
wind would not let you forget this awesome experience. I’m sure this would be
the best part of the trip and the memories you’ll make will always make you
coming back to this beautiful island.
If you want to get the better
view you can go to DDH beach which has a landscape of the sea and long
vanakbara beach which connects to vanakbara village and it is one of the best
places in diu for fishing I’ve been there so many times and always I feel I
should stay over here with nature and don’t want to go back home.
Day 3-
After having breakfast, I would
recommend you to go for the naida caves. It is the network of caves &
caverns made from unique rock formations which can easily blow your mind.
NOTE: IT COULD BE CLOSED PLEASE CHECK BEFORE LEAVING
And after discovering
different types of caverns and spending the last moments in diu we would check
out from the hotel & have lunch in one of the nearest restaurants around
and we would head to our hometown.
That was the easiest and
quick itinerary for the travels who want a quick escape from the husty-busty
life and spend some quality time with parties and nature.
Thank you so much.
